We can only whiten natural teeth. Dental prostheses such as crowns, veneers and dentures cannot be whitened. If you wish to brighten their color you will need to have new ones made. We always recommend teeth scaling and polishing ahead of starting the teeth whitening process. Scaling and polishing is typically performed one day in advance, unless of course you allready had one within the last six months. First, we isolate your gums and lips with a protective material in order to avoid any potential damage or burning. The teeth whitening gel is then applied to the surface of the teeth. After approximately 15 minutes the gel is removed and the process repeated 1 or 2 more times. The dentist finally washes off the whitening gel and removes any gum protection before evaluating the final result.

We use teeth whitening gel with concentration of around 40% in hydrogen peroxide. This very effective bleaching gel can only be used by professional dentists. Several studies have shown that teeth whitening treatments are very safe. Furthermore when tooth whitening treatments are performed carefully by licensed professionals, the exposure to hydrogen peroxide is minimal. You might experience some mild tooth sensitivity or gum irritation, that will go away within the next day.

We also offer prescription-strength home whitening kits. We’ll provide you with custom-fitted mouth trays and a strong gel which require about 7-10 days of treatment. Just wear your trays as directed, which is usually an hour or two in the evenings, and you’ll notice dazzling results. In some cases we recommend at home teeth whitening after concluding in the office teeth whitening. The combined treatment will further lighten and stabilize the new color.
All whitening methods can brighten teeth up to 10 shades in some cases. To keep your teeth bright for a long time, save your home whitening trays and get more bleaching gel from our dental clinic as needed. We not recommend bleaching your teeth more often that once per year.
